Animal Care Professional - Part Time ashley@loveyourpet.ca |
Being raised in Ontario with a variety of animals, such as horses, dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, "skinny pigs" and other small creatures has deepened Ashley's love and passion for all creatures alike. Ashley's compassion for animals began at a very young age with her saucy family cat Michelle and rambunctious dog Bobbi-Jo; however it was heightened when she discovered her love for training and handling her Grandmother's champion Briads for national and international dog shows. It was definitely a challenge when working with such a charismatic breed for over seven years, as you never knew what surprises would be sprung, especially if the dog happened to be energetic little Dagmar! Travelling for dog shows kept Ashley very busy but she always managed to take time to visit her Aunt and her beautiful horses Stanley, Kahlua and Phoenix in northern Ontario for some bareback trail riding and quality time. Since, Ashley has relocated to Alberta she has taken a number of trips to the Canadian Rockies for trail rides to enjoy the company of some of the most majestic horses in the mountains. Ashley volunteered at a local veterinarian clinic in Whitby, Ontario where she worked with many different breeds of dogs and cats, small mammals, birds and reptiles. This experience gave her the opportunity to learn how to apply basic needs, such as trimming nails, grooming, calming and comforting of a stressed animal and proper cleaning and caring techniques for many different animals. At home, Ashley cared for dogs, rabbits, lizards and birds, including the very moody yet precious, territorial love bird named Captain Morgan who made the journey across Canada with Ashley to relocate to Alberta. As of lately, Ashley spends her free time with her two cats playing fetch, cuddling, and brushing the long fur of her slightly chubby year old cat, Paige Morgan. And yes, Paige does plays fetch even better than some dogs! With great respect and compassion for all creatures, Ashley looks forward to sharing her love with your pet of any kind while you are away from home. |
